“Pempe '' was produced by Kel-P, Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter from Lagos, Nigeria who is most commonly known for his work on Burna Boy’s “African Giant”.

“Pempe” is upbeat; driven by an energetic AfroBeats rhythm which is complemented by pop melodies which make it easy to dance to. One can also hear semblances of South American-derived elements which also give it a subtle Latin feel.

“Pempe” is about women power. It’s also talking about over-sexualization and misrepresentation of the women in the music industry. With a pairing like Seyi Shay and Yemi Alade, and the energetic, passionate performance of the two, the message carries across easily and is the perfect single to precede Seyi Shay’s upcoming Summer album.
