Kris Hans got his love for music from his family. He grew up listening to different artists from different genres that inspired him to make his sound. Kris Hans is an advocate for peace and it is replicated in his music. His favorite part of being an artist is the process of making music, collaborating and sharing his passion with creative people in the industry. His goal is to make his sound heard and to inspire the young generation.

What first got you into music?

I grew up in a musically inclined family, listening to different types of music genres, furthermore progressing to singing in high school and choir. I decided to push the career further.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Musically I won't say I draw my inspiration from a particular artist or group of artists. My inspiration comes from different genres and artist over time examples; Fela Kuti, Burna Boy, 2face T-pain, etc., and as the music keeps evolving I too evolve learning from both old and new artists.

What do you hope to achieve in the next 5 years?

One of the biggest achievements am looking forward to in 5 years, would be being able to establish a brand name that can help promote the AfroBeats genre in Canada and across North America, guiding and Inspiring younger generations that aspire to get in touch with this genre of music and being part of a growing music genre called AfroBeats.

What’s your ultimate goal in the music industry?

Being able to have the Kris Hans type sound heard, promoting Afrobeats. Be it Afro-soul or Afro-Pop. Making sure this sound is being heard and felt.

If you were to start over your music career, what would you do differently?

I definitely start much earlier to develop my sound.

Are there any social issues that you are passionate about? If so, would you like to share them?

Always an advocate for peace and love that’s what most of my music is built around.

Have you ever dealt with performance anxiety? If so, how do you deal with it?

Music has its own presence and when you let yourself feel that then you be fine, in every performance creating a connection with your audience is key by doing that is to engage them, sometimes talk about the track you about to perform, the process, this way they are able to feel or grasp what’s coming.

Do you have any hobbies outside of music?

Travelling.

What is your favourite and least favourite part about being an artist?

My favourite part is always the process of making the art which is music, meeting and sharing knowledge with people in the industry. Personally, I won't say there is a least favourite part as it usually would be a learning process or an avenue to enhance my craft.

Which unique competitive qualities do you think you possess as an artist? My Melodies, and even being able to be a part of a music genre such as Afro-beat.

Is there any instrument you would like to learn and why?

Drums; no particular reasons but it's just a preference.

What is the story behind your artist’s name?

Kris Hans was coined somewhat from my name with a twist to it, over time friends and loved ones called me that and it stuck.

How do you feel the internet has impacted the music industry?

From the standpoint of these times, it has created a platform for music to still be heard regardless of the times we are in.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

To always stand for what you believe, be it your craft or dreams and with time, effort, and prayers there would be a manifestation of it.

If you were not an artist, what career would you choose?

Still would continue with my engineering career.
